[Woodbridge Valley Bluefins News] – Practice Starts Tuesday!
Hi Swim Team Staff,

Here is the News information:

News Title: Practice Starts Tuesday!
News Date: 05/27/2018
Practice starts Tuesday! Be sure to check the practice times tab on Team Unify to verify what time your swimmer should be there.

I will not be able to make it on Tuesday, but am doing my best to pop in on Wed. (Afternoon practices are tough for me!) But any parent there is sure to be able to help if you have any questions!

A quick reminder, please do not sit behind the coaches during practice. Also, please dont try to speak to the coaches during practice. (This goes for parents and swimmers!) The coaches need to have their attention on the kids in the water. There is always 5 minutes or so between age groups if there is something you need to speak to them directly about.

Cant wait to see you all at the pool!

If you have children Pre-K through 12th grade, we would love to have them join our swim team, the Bluefins! Their season begins with practices starting next Tuesday and runs through the end of July. All the information you’d need is on the team link on the website. We have an exceptionally encouraging team, and we win a lot, too! We’d love to add more swimmers!

And finally, just because we have to be responsible, please do glance over our Pool Rules (enumerated below) one more time before you come. If everyone abides by those, we will have a wonderfully peaceful summer of swimming, sunning, pot-lucking, and getting to know one another.

Looking forward to spending the summer with you all!

Membership Director
For the Board
Woodbridge Valley Pool

Members and guests must obey the instructions of the pool staff.

Woodbridge Valley Pool celebrates its culturally and racially diverse community; therefore racial slurs, disparaging racial comments, or joking at the expense of a racial group are not permitted on pool property. Choosing such behavior will result in being required to leave the pool for that day. Future repeated offenses will result in additional discipline up to suspension of pool access.

Members under age 9 must be accompanied and supervised at all times by a responsible person who is at least 13 years old. Members, who are 9 through 12 years of age, can be admitted without an adult only if they have the written permission of their parent/guardian and have passed the deep well test.

No glass containers of any kind are allowed on pool premises. This includes corning ware, ceramic crock pots, etc.

No eating or drinking is allowed at the edge of the pool. Smoking is allowed outside of the fences only.

No alcoholic beverages may be brought into or consumed on pool property except during such special affairs as may be announced by the Board of Directors.

Please, do not talk to the lifeguards when they are up in the chair. (They are watching out for our safety.)

Water guns are not allowed on pool premises at any time.

Sponge balls are permitted in the pool. Use of other throwing objects (balls, Frisbees, etc.) may be used with the manager’s permission. None of these objects are to be used on the pool deck, nor in the shallow end of the pool (shaded area in the sketch below). Crowded conditions may require that they be removed from the pool. Hard balls are prohibited on pool property (lacrosse balls, baseballs, etc.).

DeepWell 5 Feet Deep End: No running is allowed, except on the grassy area at the top of the hill.

No running off the diving board!

Proper attire must be worn at all times. No cutoffs or other frayed clothing is allowed in the pool.

Infants and children who are not toilet trained must wear approved swimming “pull-ups” while in the main pool or the baby pool. It is the parent’s responsibility to ensure that the pull-up is not soiled while the infant/child is in the pool. Cloth diapers and disposable diapers are prohibited as swimming attire.

No children over the age of 5 are allowed in the baby pool. Children may use the baby pool only when supervised by an adult or an approved baby-sitter (age 13 or older) within the fenced baby pool area.

Only U.S Coast Guard approved personal flotation devices are allowed to be used in the pool. Other life preservers, water wings, or any other swimming aids designed for young children, inflatable inner tubes or rings are not allowed. Floatation mats or rafts are permitted in the pool only during “Adult Swim,” but not in the deep well. Kickboards are permitted for lap swimming in the lap lane only.

Diving is allowed only in the 12 foot deep area, the “deep well.” Diving board rules are posted behind the board. If you are 12 years old or younger, you must pass the “deep well test’ before going off the diving board or swimming in the deep well. The test, given by a lifeguard, consists of swimming back and forth once across the deep end of the pool and treading water for one minute.

** If unfavorable weather conditions exist, the pool will be closed at the discretion of the manager on duty.

Disciplinary Action: Any individual who violates the pool rules may be asked to retire to a disciplinary area. This is known as “benching.” This includes inappropriate behavior or language. With 2 such violations in one day, the individual may be asked to leave the pool premises for that day. Continued violations may result in suspension of pool privileges.

PayPal Payments at WV Pool

Opening Day is SATURDAY MAY 27 at Woodbridge Valley Pool!

If you pay your membership fees online, please help us to facilitate your entry into the pool in the coming days. PLEASE be prepared either with a print-out of your online receipt of payment, or be able to call up your proof of payment on your smart phone when you visit the pool. The people helping at the front desk do not have immediate access to our PayPal records.

We are by no means a fully automated operation. Once you have made your payment, we have to manually update the computer entry system at the pool, in the same manner as if you had mailed in a check to us. We are working hard to update our system, and your showing us proof of your payment will help us to allow you easy access to the pool while the data entry continues.

You can even make your payment online with your smart phone while you are waiting in line to enter the pool on Saturday morning! Just please be prepared to show us your proof of payment when you reach the front desk.

Thanks in advance for your kind cooperation!

– Jim 🙂

We Love Woodbridge Valley Pool!

Dear Woodbridge Valley Pool Families,

November 11th thru November 25th is the Autumn Flyer Campaign!

We need everyone’s help.

Over this 2 week course, the Woodbridge Valley Pool Association’s Marketing Committee would like to heavily promote the pool to our surrounding neighborhoods. We need volunteers to deliver flyers door-to-door, and to speak with neighbors about the many benefits of our community pool.

Summer 2017 membership makes a great holiday gift! When purchased before December 15th, a special membership certificate can be delivered to the new member in time for the holidays. We’d like to emphasize that if 20 new members join before December 15th our pool will greatly benefit. We could achieve the goal Jim wrote to us about last month.

The Autumn Flyer Campaign will take us closer to Vision 300; which we have the potential to achieve before the doors open Memorial Day 2017!

Contact Angelina Chilcoat achilcoa 410-493-8711 She will assign your family a section of neighborhood to canvas and provide Woodbridge Valley Pool flyers with talking points.

For those of you outside the immediate neighborhood, we especially need you to let your friends and neighbors know we are here! We will supply the flyers. We just need willing hands to pass them around your immediate areas.

Fall Cleanup Continues Saturday at WV Pool

We look forward to seeing you Saturday as fall cleanup continues 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM at Woodbridge Valley Pool.

“We” – that’s the “royal we” – me, myself and I enjoyed a productive morning on Saturday. Many thanks to Tim Jones for your help around the baby pool. Much was accomplished, yet there is much important work yet to be done!

On Saturday we’ll be working inside the fence to get leaves off of the lawn. Another priority this week will be to do our part to serve the community by clearing leaves from outside the fence, along the street, and down in the parking lot. Work outside the fence can be accomplished at any time that is convenient for you. Thanks in advance for your help in completing the cleanup!
